Application range of hot runner molds
The cold runner is the part between the mold inlet and the product gate. The plastic is kept flowing in the runner by injection pressure and its own heat. The runner is part of the molded material, but not the product. Therefore, when designing a mold, we must consider not only the filling effect, but also how to save material by shortening and narrowing the runner. Ideally, this is the case, but in practice it is difficult to achieve both.
Hot runner, also known as runnerless, means that the plastic in the runner does not solidify after each injection and the nozzle in the runner does not need to be removed when the plastic product is demolded. Since the plastic in the runner has not yet solidified, the runner remains open for the next injection.
Hot runner molds are mainly used in the following areas.
1、Type of plastic material
Hot runner molds have been successfully used to process various plastic materials. Such as PP, PE, PS, ABS, PBT, PA, PSU, PC, POM, LCP, PVC, PET, PMMA, PEI, ABS/PC, etc. Any plastic material that can be processed by cold runner molds can be processed by hot runner molds.
2、Part size and weight
The smallest part made by hot runner mold is under 0.1 gram. The largest is over 30kg. The application is extremely wide and flexible.
3、Industrial field
Hot runner molds are widely used in various industrial sectors such as electronics, automotive, medical, daily necessities, toys, packaging, construction, and office equipment.
