In two-color mold manufacturing, hot runner is sometimes used. The hot runner mold is a mold that uses a heating device to make the melt in the runner never solidify. Because it has shorter forming cycle than traditional dies and saves more raw materials, hot runner dies are widely used in developed countries and regions in the world.

A hot runner system is required for the following situations:

Injection molding products with strict quality requirements.

Multi plastic and multi color co injection process.

The gate direction is at a certain or vertical angle to the mold opening direction.

Multilayer mold A way to increase the output without increasing the tonnage of injection molding machine is to use multi-layer mold. That is, there are multiple parting faces on the mold. This mold is completely realized by the hot runner system.

The gate is opened at the inner side of deep shaped parts. Some industrial products have extremely strict requirements for appearance, and no gate trace is allowed to be exposed in use. Small such parts, such as cosmetic lipstick pen cover, are as large as automotive interior parts. At this time, the gate needs to be opened inside the part. When the part depth is too large, it is impossible to use a cold runner gate, but can only use a hot runner nozzle to stretch into the inner side of the part for injection molding.
